On Saturday I was lucky enough to be invited to Beyond the Barricade 25th Anniversary tour at the Granville Theatre in Ramsgate. This show is the brainchild of Andy Reiss and David Fawcett. The show is very simple, but very, very effective. The show is made up of a collection of West End performers singing songs from famous West End and Broadway musicals.
The beauty of this format is its honesty. There is no elaborate staging or expensive production design. There is just a group of extraordinary voices, songs you know and love, and the particular electricity that comes from live performance by people who have built their careers on these stages. The Granville is the perfect intimate setting for it.
