GIRL IN RED RELEASES NEW EP BLUE
girl in red releases her new EP BLUE, her most personal project to date, via Columbia Records. With Marie Ulven deeply involved in both the songwriting and production, the EP finds her returning to the heart of her creative process, taking a hands-on approach to the music and storytelling. Listen HERE.
The previously released track “blue” captures the uncertainty of change and the emotions that come with finding your way through it. Built around the candid songwriting that has defined her music from the beginning, the track’s melody first came to Marie during an early-morning walk with her dog, Luna. The song became the catalyst for the EP, inspiring a collection of songs that felt distinct from her next album and deserved a project of their own.
On “clean slate,” she explores the lingering weight of the past and the ways our own minds can keep us stuck in place. Reflecting on the challenge of breaking free from familiar through patterns, the track considers what it takes to move forward and make room for a fresh start.
Since emerging as one of alternative pop’s most distinctive voices, girl in red has earned international acclaim for her candid songwriting and genre-blurring sound. Her award-winning debut album, if i could make it go quiet, marked a major milestone in her career, followed by her sophomore album, I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY!, which showcased her continued evolution as an artist. She has also opened for Taylor Swift on her record-breaking Eras Tour, cementing her place as a compelling force in contemporary alternative music.
